“Otožnost” (Slovenian for “Sadness”) or “Wie ein Blatt im Wind” (German for “Like a leaf in the wind”) is a beautiful waltz by Slovenian composer and accordionist Jože Burnik, who is most known for his work with the legendary Alpski Kvintet (Alpenoberkrainer) from Slovenia as well as his unique take on the Oberkrainer style of Alpine folk music.
Burnik has written many compositions which are regularly played across most styles of Alpine folk music throughout North Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, North Italy and Bavaria, including “Polka Express”, “Dobro Jutro” (“Guten Morgen”), among others. The song featured lyrics sung by Ivanka Kraševec as recorded by Ansambel Jožeta Burnika and later by Alpski Kvintet. It has also been covered as an instrumental by Oberkrainer style trios, and Oberkrainer style brass ensembles.
