About the song
“Še bo luštno” (Slovenian for “It Will Be Fun”), also known as “Krainerschwung” (German for “Carniolan Swing”) is an Oberkrainer-style instrumental by Jože Burnik, a legendary Slovenian accordionist and composer. Burnik is well known for his work with Alpski Kvintet (Alpenoberkrainer) and for composing beloved polkas such as “Dobro Jutro” (“Guten Morgen”) and Polka Express.
This piece was originally recorded in the 1980s with Burnik’s Austrian ensemble Heimatlandecho, featuring renowned zither player Miha Dovžan.
The polka shares stylistic similarities with Polka Express, particularly in its use of block chords and a signature swing feel – both hallmarks of Burnik’s distinctive sound. In my arrangement, I’ve included challenging variations for sections A and B which often feature in covers by high calibre accordionists.
