Srne – Rehlein (I. Dovžan) [Sheet music] [Tutorial video] [Play-along audio] [Play-along video]

This is a beautiful waltz from Ansambel Mihe Dovžana and later Alpski Kvintet, both sung by Ivanka Kraševec. It was also covered by Laibach in the soundtrack for Iron Sky with English lyrics (“Take me to heaven”). The original title however translates to “Roe deer” from both Slovenian and German.

Böhmische Liebe (M. Rauch) [Sheet music] [Tutorial video] [Play-along audio] [Play-along video]

This is a popular Blasmusik song from the early 2010s by Mathias Rausch which translates to “Bohemian Love”. It is a very calm, lovely polka which is played around 110-115 bpm by brass music bands but faster by ‘echte Volksmusik’ (authentic Volksmusik) and Oberkrainer bands.

Zillertaler Hochzeitsmarsch (Austrian traditional) [Sheet music] [Tutorial video] [Play-along audio] [Play-along video]

This is a popular Austrian traditional polka of origins unknown. It is was commonly played on violin before being adapted by one of the most popular folk-pop or Volksmusik bands from Austria, Zillertaler Schürzenjäger. Now it is also commonly played on accordion and steirische hamronika.

First now I’ve created learning material in the key of Bb (same as the Zillertaler Schürzenjäger version), but if some of you would like a version in F or G, let me know, and after a few of you ask of it, I will create it.

This is a popular polka from the 1980s by Hubert Mayer from the successful Austrian band “Die Fidelen Mölltaler”. “Wir grüßen euch” translates to “We greet you” and was used as the band’s introductory song at their concerts. It features a great accordion solo followed by a lyric section.
