Zemlja Domača (F. Šegovc) [Sheet music]

This is another beautiful song by Franc Šegovc (Štirje Kovači) from their LP “Zdaj pa vem” from 1982. Štirje Kovači (Four Blacksmiths) recently entered the Guinness Book of Records for being the longest active Narodnozabavna (Slovenian popular-folk, Oberkrainer) ensemble in the world (67 years to date).

Mladost je kot veter – Vergangene zeiten (I. Brüggemann) [Sheet music] [Tutorial video]

Another popular Oberkrainer waltz from around the 1980s by Inge (Ingrid) Brüggemann from Austria (credited on some records with her pseudonym Janez Rakovec), recorded by Slovenski muzikantje/Oberkrainer Sextett from Slovenia and Zillertaler Schürzenjäger from Austria among other groups. The Slovenian title “Mladost je kot veter” translates to “Youth is like the wind”, and the German title “Vergangene zeiten” translates to “Past times”.

Trije godci (R. Bardorfer) [Sheet music] [Handwritten scan]

Janez Goršič (Ansambel Rudija Bardorferja, Dobri Znanci, Ansambel Janeza Goršiča) from Slovenia was the final accordionist with Ansambel Rudija Bardorferja, after Rudi Bardorfer was exiled to Switzerland, and joined their album “Rodni Kraj” in 1973.

Janez was very kind to send me some scans of Bardorfer’s rare handwritten sheet music, and it is his wish to be shared with a wider community to enjoy.

This is a polka that I have never heard on any recording of Rudi Bardorfer’s ensemble, and am pleased to share with you Janez’s scan of this handwritten sheet. The title “Trije godci” translates to “Three musicians”.

Auf der Riederalm (G. Schlatzer) [Sheet music] [Tutorial video]

An upbeat waltz by Günther Schlatzer from Grazer Spatzen, a popular Oberkrainer band from Austria whose career spanned from 1983 to 2018.
