Montag Polka (German for “Monday Polka”, or “Ponedeljekova Polka” in Slovene) is a composition by Australian musician Paul Gillett and myself. Paul and I perform together in my Oberkrainer/Alpine folk music trio, Alpen Musikanten (Alpski Muzikantje in Slovene), based in Melbourne.
Paul is an experienced and versatile performer who works across a wide range of genres as a guitarist, vocalist and composer – including French Gypsy Swing, Italian Folk, Skiffle, Independent Film Scores, and his own original folk music under the pseudonym Mr. Floyd Thursby. Impressively, he sings in over 20 languages, with Slovenian being one of his most recent additions.
