Prelepi Gorenjski svet – Mein München, ich sag ade (V. & S. Avsenik) [Sheet music]

This is a beautiful waltz by the Avsenik brothers which was recorded in the 1970s in both Slovenian as “Prelepi Gorenjski svet” (Beautiful world of Gorenjska) and German as “Mein München, ich sag ade” (My Munich I say goodbye) by Ansambel bratov Avsenik (Original Oberkrainer Avsenik). Gorenjska (in English: Upper Carniola and in German: Oberkrain) is the region of Slovenia which the Avsenik brothers are from.

In 1976 it was released in Slovenian with their original vocal trio featuring Alfi Nipič, Ema Prodnik and Jožica Svete, while in the 1972 it was released in German with vocalists Ema Prodnik, as well as unknown German vocalists which have apparently never been credited (or photographed) on the albums and were recorded separately without the ensemble present.

This song was also played as an instrumental at the end of Avsenik’s concerts in the 1970s and 1980s, towards the end of the concerts, gently played in the background while the announcer would introduce each individual member of the ensemble (watch the linked video). In recent years it has seen many excellent covers including as an instrumental by Sepp Neururer from Austria who has released 2 fantastic Avsenik tribute albums in the last few years.
