Gorsko jezero – Am gebirgssee (V. Štrucl) [Sheet music]

“Gorsko jezero” (Slovenian for “Mountain lake”) or “Am gebirggsee” (German for “At the mountain lake”) is an instrumental waltz by Slovenian composer and musician Vinko Štrucl. It was recorded by Slovenski instrumentalni kvintet (Oberkrainer Sextett) in the 1970s, whose albums credited the composition to Štrucl’s pseudonym, Vine Darin. Danes pri vas – Die Oberkrainer Kommen (V. Štrucl) [Sheet music] [Tutorial video]

‘Danes pri vas’ (Ger: ‘Die Oberkrainer Kommen’) is a polka by Vinko Štrucl, a Slovenian composer, conductor, trombone and baritone player. He wrote many songs for Slovenski instrumentalni kvintet (Oberkrainer Sextett Janez Kalšek), hundreds of compositions for brass and wind orchestras, and also stepped in for Mik Soss on baritone for the Avsenik ensemble. This song is from the 1960s and appears on many albums by Oberkrainer Sextett. Its title can easily be mistaken by an Avsenik polka with the same German name. The Slovenian title translates to “Wish”, and the German title translates to “Wish waltz”. It was first recorded by “Dobri Znanci” in the 1960s then “Slovenski instrumentalni kvintet” (Oberkrainer Sextett Janez Kalšek) in the 1960s and again in the 1970s, featuring Franc Korbar (composer of the song “Domovina”) with his beautiful trumpet playing. It’s one of the first Oberkrainer style waltzes I ever heard, and definitely one of the most beautiful, particularly in the 1970s recording by Oberkrainer Sextett. Vinko Štrucl composed and arranged many songs for various Oberkrainer style ensembles in the
